I joined the lab in my second year of Bachelors and worked on various subjects including “effect of diet on immunity of evolved lines of Drosophila melanogaster” alongside with my PhD mentor Tsering Choton and colleague Sreelakshmi K S. I also designed a fully automated sleep deprivation apparatus using raspberry pi model 4B. Other than screwing around in research I like tinkering with computers. I’m particularly proficient in a lot of server side and network database management. I was the convenor of the gaming club of IISER Mohali (2021-2022); And competed and won in amateur esports tournaments. Best place to meet me is probably the gym :)

Welcome to my corner of the lab! I'm currently in my fourth year pursuing a major in Biology with a minor in Data Science. My journey with this incredible lab began in the summer of 2022, and it has been nothing short of amazing. Being a part of this lab has provided me with invaluable experiences and a wealth of knowledge. Specifically, I've been entrusted with the care and upkeep of a diverse array of 15 hemiclone families. My focus within the lab revolves around exploring the fascinating interplay between heredity and immunity in Drosophila. It's a captivating study that involves the meticulous examination of hemiclones to unravel the mysteries of how genetic factors influence the immune responses of these tiny, yet incredibly complex organisms. Being a part of this research community has not only expanded my understanding of biological processes but has also honed my skills in data science, creating a unique intersection of my academic interests. I am enthusiastic about contributing to the lab's ongoing projects and excited about the discoveries that lie ahead.

I am currently pursuing the BS-MS program at IISER Mohali. My academic journey has been shaped by a profound passion for animals and nature. In the laboratory, my research has primarily focused on investigating the evolution of immunity through bacterial infections. Further, I delved into the genetics of Drosophila using Hemiclonal lines. Beyond these experiences, I am keenly interested in exploring the evolutionary facets of cognition and behavior. This curiosity drives my academic pursuits, and I am eager to contribute to the understanding of adaptive evolution in these domains.

Greetings! Hailing from the beautiful Kinnaur district, Himachal Pradesh known for its stunning mountains and lovely meadows. Football is my true love, and I find joy in exploring new places, immersing myself in diverse lifestyles and cultures, capturing beautiful moments along the way. Currently, I am pursuing my master thesis, in the field of Earth Science. During my summer project here, I investigated the impact of larval crowding on reproductive traits of Drosophila melanogaster, focusing on aspects such as male mating choice and sperm length.

I have worked with JJ and Aindrila on the heat shock and cold shock population. We exposed flies to heat shock and cold shock at various different temperatures and then studied its effects on their fertility, viability and mortality. I am a third year BS-MS student at IISER Mohali. I started learning and working in this lab in my second semester. Since then I have done a project under the guidance of my seniors and helped in various others. I love the work environment that we have in the lab.

I am a BS-MS biology undergraduate. Trying out different skills, improving my diverse skill set and maintaining a lifestyle is what keeps me up :) I adore indulging in various cultures. Apparently, I do graphic designing, art and dance. I joined the lab during my semesters, and it was more fun than draining. Our lab has maintained a cold-adapted population of Drosophila melanogaster for over a decade. My study included analysing the effect of heat shock on this population with locomotion as a measure to apprehend the degree of recovery post-shock. Additionally, I reported factors such as mortality and sex.

Hello! I am a third-year BS-MS student in Biological Sciences at IISER Mohali, where I have been exploring my interests since I came across Dr. NGP’s lab (EBL). Here I found myself in a new era of science, doing experiments with PhD students, interacting with them, which was a new and delightful experience for me. Working with Drosophila melanogaster taught me many things, including how to work with patience, calmness, and cleanliness. I contributed to the study “Effect of larval crowding in fecundity and lifespan of Drosophila melanogaster”. I am from Himachal, a state known for its peace and beauty, which I also pursue, and I enjoy interacting with new people and learning new things. I am a person who values punctuality and commitment, whether at work or otherwise.
